JOB SUMMARY
The Riverside Transit Agency is recruiting to fill current full-time vacancies in the Maintenance Department.
This position performs routine service on all Agency vehicles and 41' buses.
Please be advised that this may involve assignment at either our Riverside or Hemet locations. Applicants must be available to work all weekdays, including weekends, holidays, and all shifts. In addition, this position works an overnight shift, typically starting between 8:00pm-10:00pm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Servicer's duties shall include, but not be limited to the following:
- Fueling;
- Inspection of all fluid levels:
- Cleaning of interior and exterior surfaces;
- Replacement of worn items such as wiper blades, light bulbs and lenses;
- Changing of tires;
- Changing engine oil and transmission fluid;
- Lubrication;
- Moving vehicles and buses around maintenance facilities.
Additional duties shall include janitorial services as required, running errands, maintaining proper records, pulling vaults from revenue vehicles and replacing with empty vaults, storing filled vaults in coin counting room, posting and removing rider alerts and car cards on revenue vehicles, maintaining records of vault/fare box condition and vehicle assignment, and other related tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education: Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
Experience: Preferably one year experience in general labor or janitorial work. Must be able to perform heavy manual labor (ability to lift up to 50 lbs.), learn and follow procedures, and follow oral and written instructions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
At the time of application:
A current valid non-restricted Class C Driver's License is required. Additionally, a DMV K4 drivers' history printout (issued not more than 30 days prior to date of application) must be provided with the application. You must obtain the official driving history from a DMV branch, the online print out from the DMV website will not be accepted. The driving history must be clear of suspensions for any reason within the past five (5) years and have no more than three (3) points within the past five (5) years, and no two (2) point violations.
No accidents which applicant contributed to cause within 3 years from your application date
Have appeared in court as required
Applicant must obtain a Class B permit by first day of employment and be able to obtain a Class B license and medical certificate within ninety (90) days of employment.
PLEASE NOTE:
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) wants to inform commercial driver license (CDL) customers about new requirements and updated acceptable documents that becomes effective on May 10, 2017. All new commercial driver license applicants will be required to provide the DMV with proof of California residency as well as proof of U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or legal presence.
The new requirements apply to original and renewal CDL applicants, as well as CDL cardholders who request a license upgrade.
A few examples of acceptable legal presence documents include:
•A valid, unexpired U.S. passport or passport card
•Certified copy of a birth certificate with a State Office of Vital Statistics or equivalent
•A valid, unexpired Permanent Resident Card
•A valid, unexpired employment authorization document (EAD)
•A valid, unexpired foreign passport with an approved I-94 form

•Rental or lease agreement
•Mortgage bill
•Home utility bills (including cellular phone)
•Medical documents
•Employment documents

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years old.
Minimum 6 months of driving history.
Must be available to work rotating shifts which include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

- Final Warnings
- Suspensions
- Must have no more than 2 Incidents/Miss-Outs within the last 90 days.
- Must have no more than 5 Counted Absences currently.
- Preventable Accidents - no more than 1 written warning within the last year.
- Performance Appraisal ratings must be at or above "Meets Standards."

- Driving record review (pass/fail).
- Written Exam (pass/fail).
- A performance exam (pass/fail).
- Final ranking is determined by the oral interview examination (100% weight).
FAILURE TO PROVIDE A CURRENT DMV K4 driving record (issued not more than 30 days prior to date of application) will disqualify your application. The examinations will be used to assess the applicant's knowledge, skills and abilities as they relate to the position.
